Taraba govt officials complete leadership, peacekeeping training in Jaji

The participants, who completed the one-week training, said the knowledge acquired would positively impact communities across Taraba when they return to their various areas of specialisation.

The Taraba contingent included commissioners, local government council chairmen, members of the State House of Assembly, civil society representatives, security personnel, political leaders, and journalists.

They were trained in leadership development, basic human rights, countering violent extremism, and gender-based exploitation and abuse.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Sarah Enoch Adi, said the training would strengthen members of the State Executive Council for the positive development of the state.

Adi noted that participants from other ministries confessed to having gained enhanced knowledge and skills to improve governance in the state.

“Governor Kefas has demonstrated to the people that knowledge is power. It is impossible for anyone who attended this training to return to Taraba the same way.

“The governor is deliberately developing knowledge across the state. Look at the ongoing free and compulsory education aimed at giving knowledge to the younger generation. We are truly grateful to him,” she said.

The leader of the Batch B contingent, Rev. Sunday Patrick, said the training had impacted both religious and political groups in the state. He urged the government to institutionalise such trainings for people saddled with responsibilities to make society better.

"The Commandant of the Centre, Major General Dangana Allu, who was represented by the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier General Gabriel Esho, highlighted the volatile and complex nature of the country. He emphasised the need for investment in conflict prevention and peacebuilding to create a better society for all.

He urged participants to uphold dignity and compassion in the discharge of their duties.

Major General Allu also expressed gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu, for creating an enabling environment for the centre to thrive, and thanked Governor Kefas for the strategic partnership.
